Penha Group - History

Our History

1961

THE BEGINNING OF A DREAM
Sixty years ago, the history of NOSSA SENHORA DA PENHA PAPER AND CARDBOARD INDUSTRY S/A began to be written. In 1961, the current group, constituted by descendants of Japanese origin, assumed the shareholding control of the company, starting a new phase of prosperity and evolution.

1970s

ENTERPRISING DARING In the early 1970s, Penha specialized in the manufacture of corrugated cardboard and in 1976, made a technological and structural leap. At that time the company had an area of 62,000 m2 and about 60 employees.

1980s

SOWING IMPROVEMENT

In the 1980s, the organization sought technological improvement through the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment and also sought management with the implementation of participatory administration, through the methodology of Quality Control Circles (QCC).

1990s

EXPANSION AND INCORPORATION OF NEW TRENDS

At that time, the company invested in the expansion of its facilities with the construction of a new, highly automated plant – in the same plant – in order to increase production capacity. In addition, the Quality Systematization was also started, which was effected in the beginning of 2000 with the obtaining of the first version of the ISO 9001 certification.

2000s

EXPANDING HORIZONS

In 2000, the company expanded its activities and incorporated new units located in the states of Paraná: Coronel Vivida (2004); and Bahia: Santo Amaro (2005), DANSPE (2006), Penha Agro (2009) and Feira de Santana (2013). Thus, the organization gained the status of GROUP, and started to call itself Penha Group.
